LOREENA McKENNITT: EL VIAJE NAVIDEÑO 1 "TO DRIVE THE COLD WINTER AWAY" (1987): 8 "THE WEXFORD CAROL"

El viaje navideño, por la música de Loreena McKennitt se detiene, en el villancico "The Wexford carol". Se trata, de un villancico tradicional irlandés, grabado en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora, en Guelph, Ontario (Canadá), y maravillosamente interpretado, por Loreena McKennitt.
La wikipedia, nos ilustra, sobre el villancico:

"Wexford Carol (irlandés: el Carúl Loch Garman, Carúl Inis Córthaidh) es un Villancico irlandés religioso tradicional que proviene del Condado Wexford, y expresamente, Enniscorthy (de donde su nombre), y pasa de moda, en el siglo XII. El sujeto de la canción es el de la Natividad de Jesucristo.
"Wexford Carol" es uno de los Villancicos existentes más viejos en la tradición europea. Las tradiciones abundan acerca de la canción. Durante muchos años, fue sentido que sólo los hombres deberían cantarlo. Estaba sólo en el renacimiento corriente de todo el irlandés de cosas que esta actitud cambió. Muchos artistas femeninos populares, como Loreena McKennitt, registraron “a Wexford Carol” durante los años 1990.
La canción consiguió una nueva popularidad debido al trabajo de Guillermo Grattan Ford (1859 - 1928), quién era el organista y el director musical en San. La Catedral de Aidan en Enniscorthy. Él transcribió el villancico de un cantante local, y lo hacía publicar en el Libro de Oxford de Villancicos, poniendo Enniscorthy en la mayor parte de libros de villancico alrededor del mundo.
La canción es a veces conocida por su primer verso, ´Good people all this Christmas time.´"
